The jury needed four hours on December 12th to select the participants of the HANSEartWORKS on the topic “Future City”, which will be presented at the Kröpeliner Tor from June 21st to 24th, 2018 as part of the 38th International Hanseatic Day. More than 600 photos by 32 artists from 18 cities in six nations were viewed by the five-member jury, consisting of Cultural Senator Dr. Michaela Selling, Holger Stark, Chairman of the Art Council of the Hanseatic City of Rostock, Frederic Lezmi and Markus Schaden of The PhotoBookMuseum Cologne and Rita Berkholz, Project Manager of the Hanseatic Days 2018.
In cooperation between The PhotoBookMuseum and the Hanseatic City of Rostock, artists from the member cities of the Hanseatic League were called to photographically detect and present the historical, aesthetic, functional, ecological and economic potential of their city. “We are very impressed by the quality of the submitted photos. The given topic has been handled with completely different approaches “, summarizes Frederic Lezmi the selection procedure.
In the end, the jury selected 18 artists from 16 cities in six nations. Thier photographs will be presented in two shipping containers and on large panels at the Kröpeliner Tor. Another shipping container houses a catalog workshop. There, the participants as well as visitors can put together their own photo book with all the pictures from the exhibition. With the support of the team, a personal image of the future can be placed on the cover of the exhibition catalog.
